Aires Consulting, a Division of Gallagher Bassett Services is seeking an Environmental Health and Safety Consultant with the appropriate experience in asbestos, mold and lead remediation. The ideal candidate is looking to expand professional abilities in the areas of industrial hygiene (IH), environmental or safety consulting. Aires has a proved track record of developing EHS consultants and assisting consultants to obtain certification or licensure in their chosen area(s) of expertise.

Position Summary:

  • Incumbent provides professional consulting services on industrial hygiene and safety matters.

  • Works independently at client location to manage environmental remediation products.

  • Understands and applies industrial hygiene and safety principles.

  • May Supervise environmental contractors and interface with building owners.

  • Able to gather and organize data.

  • Able to independently conduct professional industrial hygiene surveys and produce management reports for clients.

  • Ability to perform industrial hygiene/environmental health sampling in different work environments.

  • Knowledge of how to operate a variety of related tools/equipment.

  • Performs other supportive functions as assigned.

  • Understands and demonstrates project management skills.

  • Ability to write comprehensive reports for clients.

  • Evaluates compliance with regard to state and federal occupational health and safety regulations, laws, rules and codes.

  • Able to make environmental health and industrial hygiene recommendations for clients.

  • May assist senior consultants with more complex environmental projects, data collection, and proposals.

  • Provides assistance to other departments when needed

  • Interfaces effectively with management, staff and clients. Understands and applies asbestos, mold, and lead remediation techniques.

  • Plans, coordinates and conducts remediation, industrial hygiene, safety and/or environmental services on behalf of clients.

  • Ensures projects are completed per applicable regulations and the highest industry standards.

  • The ability to manage larger or more complex projects with appropriate directions.

Additional Considerations:

  • Must be able to pass a medical exam for use of a respirator.

Required:

  • Bachelor's of Science degree in life sciences or engineering required, and a minimum of 3 years' experience in asbestos/lead/mold remediation and industrial hygiene, safety or environmental consulting. Non-degreed individuals with relative industry experience will be considered.

  • At a minimum, must have previous experience in air sampling and project management work.

  • Must have valid driver's license and dependable automobile transportation.

  • Must have or be willing to obtain and maintain an IDPH license as an Air Sampling Professional and Project Manager.

  • Licensed IDPH Asbestos Project Manager, Building Inspector, and Air Sampling Professional.

  • Complete NIOSH 582 course and 2 hour asbestos awareness course. Ability to use microscope.

  • Ability to lift heavy equipment.

  • Must be able to pass a physical, and be able to wear a respirator.

Desired:

  • Degree in safety, environmental health, civil engineering, environmental engineering, geology or related scientific discipline preferred.

  • Masters Degree in Industrial Hygiene or Public Health is highly preferred.

  • Experience in asbestos/lead/mold remediation and industrial hygiene, safety or environmental consulting. Non-degreed individuals with relative industry experience will be considered.

  • Survey client properties; entails negotiating non-public access areas, climbing, extended periods of walking/standing, lifting/carrying 25 cases.

  • Required to pass a fit test.

  • Background or desire to expand professional abilities in the areas of industrial hygiene (IH), environmental or safety.
