Position Summary:

Incumbent provides leadership for a particular claims line of business, such as Workers Compensation or General Liability. Designs, implements and manages claims policies, procedures and standards to ensure high quality, cost-effective claims management on behalf of clients and carrier partners. Provides direction to the Field Operations. Consults with Business Development , Account Management, Carrier Operations, and Quality/Compliance/Risk as it relates to the their claims line of business.

Develops and implements strategies and plans to ensure that the Company provides high quality, customer-responsive, cost-effective claim handling and case management. Provides direction and technical guidance to field operations. Partners with Field Operations, Sales, Account Management, and Quality/Compliance/Risk to assess skills and training needs. Partners with Quality/Compliance/Risk to develop and manage audit tools and processes to effectively measure performance in delivery of claims service, within their line of business. Maximizes operational effectiveness with relevant and accurate data and analysis. Analyzes and distributes reports on their claims line of business performance. Creates metrics and benchmarking tools to demonstrate value proposition to clients and carriers.

Incumbent serves as a resource to Business Development and Account Management to represent the Company, provide product and pricing support, and to ensure favorable business relations and the acquisition and retention of profitable business . Serves as a resource to Carrier Operations and Account Management to manage client and carrier audits, to develop and implement improvement strategies to share best practices and correct deficiencies, and to deliver exceptional customer service. Collects major competitors' current market positions, service levels and operating strategies. Interacts with carrier counterparts to ensure strong relationships and continuous improvement. Determines and sponsors necessary enhancements to front end claims systems to support operational effectiveness.


  • Bachelor's Degree

  • Minimum of 10 years experience in claims line of business required.

  • Minimum 5 years experience in claims management positions required.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of industry best practices and procedures.


  • 15 or more years claims experience highly preferred.

  • Relevant industry designations preferred.

  • Experience handling Civil Rights claims highly preferred.
