The position

We are currently seeking a Property Assessor to join our team to undertake assessments in Tauranga. Your role will entail managing multiple property and contents claim assessments, undertaking on-site inspections and utilising your building and technical expertise to provide advice as to cause and remedy.

We are looking for individuals who love to work as part of a team, are reliable, punctual and have a friendly and engaging personal style. To be successful in this role you will need a strong focus on attention to detail and delivery of agreed tasks, as well as being customer focussed.

This is a hands-on role, with responsibilities including but are not limited to:

  • Conducting onsite assessments to establish cause and quantum of insurance claims

  • Compiling detailed scope of works, loss schedules and photographic evidence

  • Composing and submitting reports in a timely manner which summarise assessments and make recommendations for the acceptance/declinature of the insurance claim, based on the Customer’s insurance policy

  • Requesting tenders and liaising with repairers in respect of works to be completed;

  • Providing feedback to Suppliers on performance

  • Providing advice and support to all key stakeholders in respect of scoping, tender and other assessing related issues involved in the claims process

  • Providing excellent and professional customer service

  • Comply, promote and support Suppliers with the company’s Health, Safety and Environmental Policy and statutory requirements at all times including Site Specific Safety Plans

  • Responding to verbal and written queries relating to your responsibilities and position

  • Undertaking administrative and other duties as requested by your reporting manager.

What we are looking for:

  • Solid construction trade background with relevant trade qualifications

  • A minimum of 5 year’s Insurance assessing experience

  • Understanding and applying the Building Act, the Building Code, Department of Building and Housing Guidelines and any territorial authority requirements

  • Exceptional organisational skills

  • The ability to multi-task and problem solve with an eye for detail

  • Self-disciplined, self-motivated, with the ability to work with minimum supervision

  • Demonstrated computer literacy i.e. Microsoft Office Suite, ability to learn new systems

  • Excellent communication skills for face-to-face, telephone and written communication

  • Enthusiasm and initiative, with the willingness to contribute to a dynamic, professional and positive team environment

  • This role requires a valid driver’s licence and the ability to travel nationally and internationally, if required.
